Spiral melongena
Pugilina cochlidium
Family Melongenidae

The shell of a living Spiral melongena is covered with fine hairs that trap surrounding sediment for a perfect camouflage. (About 10cm)

This snail is in the midst of laying eggs. The teardrop shaped structure is its operculum (trapdoor) that is used to seal the shell opening.
