Moon
snail Polinices sp. Family Naticidae The fully extended body of a moon snail is enormous compared to its shell! While the shell is often only about 2cm, the animal's body can be two to three times bigger. The front flap of the body rides up over the shell and protects the tentacles as the snail ploughs through the sand. |
