Common
sea star Archaster typicus Family Archasteridae The Common sea star can push its stomach out of its mouth (the greenish clump in the centre of the sea star in this photo). The stomach is then used to 'mop' up detritus from the surface. Like most other sea stars, the Common sea star has tube feet that end in suckers. The tube feet emerge from the grooves under its arms. |
