Moustached anemone
awaiting identification
updated Jun 09

Where seen? This tiny sea anemone with a 'moustache' is often seen in very soft silty areas on our Northern shores. They are often seen in large numbers.

Features: Diameter with tentacles expanded 1-1.5cm. Various patterns and shades of brown and beige. Often a pair of tentacles are of a contrasting colour so that the sea anemone appears to have a moustache. On the oral disk, often fine white stripes radiating from the mouth.
