Frog cuttlefish

Family Sepiidae
updated Oct 08
Where seen? This large almost glittering animal was seen once in numbers on Chek Jawa near the coral rubble area.

Features: 10-12cm long. It has an iridescent line along the edge where the fins join the body.

Those on our shores make a croaking sound when they are alarmed. The Malays call them 'sotong katak' or 'frog cuttlefish' probably because of this habit.

Chek Jawa, May 03
