Family Octopodidae

updated May 09

Where seen? This octopus with a large smooth head is sometimes seen on Changi, among seagrasses. Sometimes tiny ones hardly bigger than a seagrass leaf can be seen.

Features: Head about 12cm long, arms may be 15-20cm long. The head is smooth and oval, and relatively large compared to the arms. Arms tapering, webbing not very extensive. This octopus hasn't been seen to change the skin texture into large bumps or spines. One was seen hiding inside a large shell of a dead Noble volute (Cymbiola nobilis).
