mangrove periwinkle snail Littoraria conica Family Littorinidae updated Oct 10 Where seen? This rather large periwinkle is sometimes seen on mangrove tree trunks and sometimes even leaves. Usually seen alone. It is found only in mangroves. Features: 2-3cm. Shell rather squat, smooth, yellow with fine spiral pattern of brown dots. Sometimes the shell is bleached white. Shell opening large. Operculum brown. |
