Broad strap red seaweed
awaiting identification*
updated Aug 10

Where seen? This broad ribbon-like red seaweed is often seen on our Southern shores, attached to coral rubble near reefs.

Features: Clump of large stiff crinkly blades, each about 15-20cm long. The blade has a flat ribbon-like central portion with flat narrower side-branches that also branch further into Y-shapes. Red, sometimes orange. Although each clump may be large, the clumps are scattered.
