Where seen? This fish in pajamas is sometimes seen on our Southern shores in pools among coral rubble and reefs.

Features: About 5-7cm. Various lines on the body. Usually seen alone. There are several species of Cheilodipterus with lines on their bodies. They can only be distinguished by closer examination. Some species have large, fang-like teeth.

What does it eat? According to FishBase, the Five-lined cardinalfish (Cheilodipterus quinquelineatus)
feeds on small crustaceans and snails, also on small fishes.

According to FishBase, the Five-lined cardinalfish (Cheilodipterus quinquelineatus), may take shelter among the spines of the Long-spined black sea urchin (Diadema sp.). But this has not been seen during our low tide visits.
