On Chek Jawa, Warty sea cucumbers appear to be seasonal. Being colourful too, it is often confused with the Thorny sea cucumber. However, the Warty sea cucumber is not encountered as frequently as the Thorny sea cucumber.

These sea cucumbers have colourful feeding tentacles which are withdrawn when the animal is out of water or feels threatened. To see these tentacles, leave the animal in water and don't disturb it. You may have to be patient and wait for the animal to feel safe before it extends its delicate branched feeding tentacles.

Warty food: Warty sea cucumbers gather food particles suspended in the water with their feeding tentacles. These are inserted one by one into the mouth in the centre and wiped clean of any edible bits.
