For more about Pulau Ubin....

How do I get to Pulau Ubin? Take a bumboat from the NEW Changi Point Ferry Terminal, which is near the Changi Village Hawker Centre. Location map of Changi Jetty. The bumboats will take you to Ubin Jetty. Cost: $2.50/person wef 15 Apr 08. Maximum 12 passengers. Just join the queue and the boats will leave when they have 12 persons. If there are less than 12 persons, you might have to wait a little while until enough people turn up. Or you can pay for 12 persons.

Location map of Chek Jawa on Ubin. From Ubin jetty, you can walk, cycle or take a van to Chek Jawa. Bicycles are available for rent near Ubin jetty. Rates vary and bicycles have to be returned by sunset.

To take a van, look for vans and land rovers assembled near the jetty. On weekends, there are usually ample drivers. Just tell the driver "Chek Jawa" and he will do the rest. Again, they might wait for enough people to fill the van. Van drivers will give you their name cards so you can call or page them on your handphones when you are ready to go home, or you can pre-arrange a pick-up time upon your arrival. Cost of one-way van trip to Chek Jawa: usually $2 per person, depending on your van driver.

Since the deferment of reclamation, barricades have been put up where the tarmac roads leads off into the trail into Chek Jawa. During the monsoon season, this clay trail may be badly washed out and may be difficult to walk and cycle: muddy, slippery, with large water-filled potholes. It takes about 45 minutes to walk and about 20 minutes to cycle the trail.

Join a guided walk!
Why not join a guided walk instead of going on your own? You will see more and have a safe visit.
During a public walk, the barricades are opened and vans will drop you off at Punai Hut, a 3-minute walk from Chek Jawa.
