ON THIS WEEK?! Nature activities and events happening this week 24-30 Nov 2003 The month of November: “Monkey and Man” exhibition Time: Upper Peirce Reservoir Park. Learn about nature, the relations between human beings and animals in natural environment. The exhibition will be on for the whole of Nov and on weekends, NParks rangers and volunteers will be at hand to explain the exhibits and help you learn more about the monkeys. Contact: Genevie Chua 65545127 29 Nov (Sat): PrawnWatch at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Time: 9.30am, please be at the Visitor Centre by 9am View a demonstration of the traditional method of prawn harvesting. Learn how the tides play a part in this activity. The demonstration is free but usual entry charges to the Reserve apply: $1 per adult, 50cents per child /student/senior citizen. More details Contact: sbwr@pacific.net.sg or call 6794 1401 30 Nov (Sun): Birdwatching at Bukit Batok Nature Park Time: Meet at 7.30 am at the junction of Upper Bukit Timah Road and Lorong Sesuai Open only to NSS members and associates Yong Ding Li introduces a good site to see Straw-headed Bulbul on the mainland, it is also the place where the introduced Lineated Barbet can be found. Besides these, look out also for woodpeckers, cuckoos, cockatoos and laughingthrushes. A bonus for all will be to see the Ashy Drongo which has been known to winter here. Open only to NSS members and associates For those who missed the first Heritage Tree Bus Ramble held recently, Due to the healthy response received, the Bus Ramble returns! Come and see some of Singapore’s most venerable and stately trees. Visit some of the quieter corners of our lovely island home, and come and celebrate our trees with us! The cost is $8/adult and $5/child below 12 years. This morning ramble should end just after noon. Pui San welcomes artists of all ages or anyone who wants to learn. His objective is to encourage creativity while enjoying nature at the same time. Bring along your favourite drawing or painting supplies. Meet 8.30am at the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve ticketing counter (Visitor Centre).
