Nature
Society's FUN WITH NATURE in schools
Fun with Nature is a Nature Education programme for primary
school children with the aim of promoting the love of nature. Fun
with Nature will be delivered in 3 ways:
1. Fun with Nature workshops In a two-hour show-and-tell workshop
at a school, children are taught in small groups (40 maximum), about
a specific group of native animal. Teaching materials will include
pictures, models and specimens of native fauna. The children will
learn about animal ecology, conservation issues, animal care and make
related craft. Our Fun with Nature workshops will include the following:
- Fun with Birds - Fun with Frogs - Fun with Fish - Fun with Butterflies
- Fun with Reptiles
2. A Nature Exhibition This roving exhibition called "Singapore's
Amazing Wildlife" will focus on native fauna and their natural habitats
and will be placed in participating schools for two weeks. In this
way, we anticipate that all children in a school will have access
to information on our native fauna and habitats.
3. A Talk on Nature in Singapore All participating schools
will also benefit from an assembly talk (for each session upon request)
on nature called "Singapore's Amazing Wildlife". This talk will complement
the nature exhibition at the school, as well as the Fun with Nature
workshops.
What will Fun with Nature cost? Subsidised generously by our
corporate sponsor, HSBC, a school need only pay $400 for a Fun with
Nature programme package.
