Nature activities and events happening this week

16-22 Aug 2004

18 Aug (Wed): Slidetalk on Plants of the Bible
Time: 7.15pm. The NSS office at The Sunflower,
510 Geylang Road #02-05
Open only to NSS members and associates

Wee Yeow Chin gives this illustrated talk about the many plants mentioned in the Bible and the controversies that surround them. For example, most people are aware of the controversy surrounding the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden. Although most versions refer to this as the apple, there are others who believe it to be a fig tree, an orange tree, or even an apricot tree. As far as plants like wheat, fig, grape, date, henna and pomegranate are concerned, there is little or no disagreement. But what about chestnut, aloe, eaglewood, manna and the flame tree?
