20 Nov (Sat): Free guided walk of Bukit Batok Nature Park
Time: 9am meet at the carpark

A Clean and Green Week special tour by NParks. Discover the park’s flora and fauna. Attractions include the quarry cliff, the reflecting pond, the two lookout points and the World War Two memorial plaque.

20 Nov (Sat): Free guided walk of the Changi Tree Conservation Area and Boardwalk
Time: 9am, meet at the junction of Sealand Rd & Netheravon Rd

A Clean and Green Week special tour by NParks. Changi – a favourite family and recreational destination – tempts with its rustic and laid back ambience. Known for its lush greenery, Changi boasts of large mature trees. Designated a Tree Conservation Area, some of the trees have recently been accorded the status of Heritage Trees. The walk starts outside Le Meridien Hotel along Netheravon Road. You will see a variety of trees and plants including “heritage” trees. While some trees are common, many are rare because of their size or availability. Highlights include: i) the Shorea gibbosa, which has not been seen elsewhere in Singapore; ii) the beautiful and tall sepetir or Sindora wallichii, which has been associated as the Changi tree; and iii) the Streblus elongatus from which Tampines got its name.

20 Nov (Sat): Free guided walk of Pasir Ris Park
Time: 9am, meet at Downtown East.

This walk begins at Carpark C, near Pasir Ris MRT Station. We will show you some native trees, the herb and spices corner and the mangroves along the banks of Sungei Tampines. Depending on tide conditions, you may even see some of the seashore animals at the river mouth.

20 Nov (Sat): Free guided Adventure Walk at Pulau Ubin
Time: 10am

Free 1 and a half- 2 hour guided walk by the Green Volunteers Network. The newest of all their walks, it will take you to more remote parts of the island. Meet 10am sharp at Changi Point Jetty, under angsana tree nearest to jetty. More details about Ubin and about the walk at the GVN website. PRE-REGISTRATION IS NECESSARY for this event. Bookings are on a first come first serve basis, up to a max of 25.

20 Nov (Sat): PrawnWatch at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
Time: 9.30am, please be at the Visitor Centre by 9am

View a demonstration of the traditional method of prawn harvesting. Learn how the tides play a part in this activity. The demonstration is free but usual entry charges to the Reserve apply: $1 per adult, 50cents per child/student/senior citizen. More about Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.

21 Nov (Sun): Beautiful Green Sunday @ Central Singapore
Time: 8am-12noon at Marina City Park (near car park A).

To promote healthy living and environmental awareness among our residents, the Central Singapore Community Development Council, will be organising "Beautiful Green Sunday @ Central Singapore" together with the National Environment Agency, National Parks Board, Singapore Environment Council and Jalan Besar GRC Citizens' Consultative Committees. This event is organised in conjunction with the annual Clean & Green Week and highlights include fun activities like a 3 km walk-a-jog, nature appreciation, traditional games and Children's Art Contest. All participants will also get to bring home a goody bag. There is a registration fee of $4 per participant.

21 Nov (Sun): Plants Appreciation Day
by the Nature Society (Singapore) Plant Group

Time: 10am-4pm at Cedar Primary School, Cedar Avenue off Aljunied Road.

This inaugural event aims to showcase Singapore's rich flora diversity through fun and educational activities. These included guided nature walks, tree climbing demonstrations, Kid's Fun with Pitcher Plants and with Grass workshops, talks on "Plants that heal, thrill and kill" and on "Figs and Fig Wasps", be a Tree Scientist for a Day, bring your sick plant to the Plant Clinic, learn Mum's Secret recipes for plants, buy potted plants, packaged herbs and spices and more.

10-11am: Guided Nature Walk by Cedar Primary School students
10.30-11am: Tree-Climbing in action
11am-12noon: Kids' Fun with Pitcher Plants workshop (*registration required)
Talk on "Plants that Heal, Thrill and Kill" by Prof Wee Yeow Chin
1-2pm: "Trees are Homes" workshop for kids (*registration required)
"Pantuns & Plants" sing-along session

Be a Tree Scientist for a Day - learn how a field study of trees is conducted; measure the height and girth of trees, identify different leaf shapes, see expert nature tree-climbers in action. Games and attractive prizes await you!
Discover! - the historical and cultural significance of roads in Singapore that are named after plants e.g. Belimbing Ave, Camphor Ave, Kenanga Ave and many more.
Plant Clinic - is your plant feeling a little off colour lately? Bring it down to the event and let the plant doctor diagnose the ailment for you.
Mum's Secret Recipes - find out interesting uses of various plants in food and medicine.
imPress with Nature - bring along an old T-shirt and revitalize it with D-I-Y printing of attractive nature motifs.

Other activities include Recycling Artwork Display, Henna Painting, Sale of native plants, medicinal plants, herbs and plants that attract butterflies and birds, pre-packed herbs & spices with recipes, preserved fruits & vegetables, plant-based beverages & herbal drinks - plant books, exquisite plant-related souvenirs and knick-knacks

21 Nov (Sun): Birdwatching at Telok Blangah Hill Park
Time: 7.30am, meet at the carpark in front of Alkaff Mansion, off Telok Blangah Green Road
Open only to NSS members and associates

June-Marie Lin will introduce the resident parkland and garden birds that abound in this park. Look out too for that visiting flycatcher, warbler or even a cuckoo. These should be wintering here by now. Cast your eyes heavenward to catch that migratory raptor soaring by gracefully. This hill park can sometimes be very interesting for raptors at this time of the year.

Time: 8.00am, meet at the junction of Vigilante Road and South Buona Vista Road
Open only to NSS members and associates

Goh Si Guim brings you on a exploration of the Canopy Boardwalk, a new attraction that has recently been added to this park. It will give us a new dimension when viewing the flora and fauna found here. This quiet woodland is a great place to enjoy a tranquil, invigorating stroll among lush greenery.
