Beting Bemban Besar

Habitats: Central area sandy, seagrasses on eastern edge, rubbly edges sparsely reefy, denser corals on western edge facing Terumbu Bemban and on southern edge facing the Live Firing Area shores.

Conservation status: Does not appear on the URA Master Plan 2008 or the Parks and Waterbodies Plan.

Current conservation activities: Since 1986, Western Semakau is one of the survey sites of underwater coral reef surveys by ReefFriends of NParks and the Blue Water Volunteers.

The intertidal area of Beting Bemban Besar is also regularly surveyed by wildsingapore.

About the name: Beting=Shoal; Bemban=A type of plant whose stem is used for making baskets, possibly refering to fish traps; Besar=Big.
