Terumbu Pempang Tengah

Habitats: Central sandy area with some seagrasses, rubbly reefy edges. Small area (20m) of dense reef growth on north-eastern edge facing Terumbu Pempang Darat.

Conservation status: Does not appear on the URA Master Plan 2008 or the Parks and Waterbodies Plan.

Current conservation activities: The intertidal area is regularly surveyed by wildsingapore.
About the name: Terumbu=A reef or rock at low tide but submerged at high water; Pempang=Not known, perhaps it is a corruption of Bemban=A type of plant whose stem is used for making baskets, possibly referring to fish traps; Tengah=Middle.
