Starry flatworm
Pseudobiceros stellae
Family Pseudocerotidae
updated Aug 10

Where seen? This moderately large flatworm with spots is only sometimes seen, usually in numbers, and then not again for some time. Near living reefs on some of our Southern shores.

Features: 4-8cm long. Body is brownish with small white spots all over. There is a broad dark band along the centre that is raised, with a line of crowded white spots along this centre band, and along the body edges. The underside is pale with a black margin. It has a pair of erect pseudotentacles at the front made up of folded edges of the body.
