Starry flatworm

Where seen? This moderately large flatworm speckled with spots is only sometimes seen, usually in numbers, and then not again for a while. Near living reefs on some of our Southern shores.

Features: 4-8cm long. Usually with deep ruffles. Body pale brown to black speckled with white spots all over. A raised centre, with a narrow line of white spots on a dark stripe. Black wide margins, dense white spots. The underside is pale beige or grey with a broad black margin. It has a pair of erect white-tipped pseudotentacles at the front made up of folded edges of the body.
