Tanker blown off course near Sentosa's Siloso Beach

SINGAPORE : A tanker was blown off course by strong winds into one of the small islets off Sentosa Island’s Siloso Beach at noon on Saturday.

It is believed the ship was stationary and anchored to the seabed when a storm blew it towards the islet.

Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority says the ship is an Indonesian-registered general cargo ship that was empty at the time. It had travelled from Port Klang and was heading to the Singapore Port when the incident occurred. No injuries were reported and damage to the tanker appears to have been small.

A tugboat arrived some three hours later to pull the tanker free. Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority is investigating. – CNA /ct
