Kudos to organisers of environment show
Letter from Adrian Tan Frances Tan

WE WERE driving into town on Hari Raya Aidilfitri when we were pleasantly surprised by a familiar sight - the Earth From The Air exhibit of blown-up photographs by Yann Arthus-Bertrand lining a stretch of Orchard Road.

We had first seen the exact same exhibit in July next to the River Thames in London. Similarly, we stumbled on his works then. His photographs of the environment, its beauty and its state, left a deep impression on us and truly showed us what our world looks like from a different angle, with a wider perspective. It also showed us how small we are in this big, big world and how, as mere human beings, we can destroy the environment so easily and in such a short span of time.

We viewed the exhibit again in Orchard Road, and this time also watched Arthus-Bertrand's video commentary on his work in the marquee. It gave us more insight into how he and his team worked, the background of some of his visuals and their experiences as they worked.

We would like to thank the Republic of France, the Singapore Environment Council and other sponsors for bringing this fascinating and thought-provoking exhibit, and for making it accessible to the public.

We encourage everyone to have a look. Hopefully, in the near future, we can make waste recycling a common responsibility for all.
