Eco-fashion show launched at NUS to raise environmental awareness

SINGAPORE : Students from the National University of Singapore Students' Union have launched their first-ever Eco-fashion show.

The fashion show was part of the opening ceremony of the three-day NUS Students' Green Carnival 2007, which aims to highlight the implications of global warming and fossil fuel depletion, as well as environmental challenges for future generations.

5,000 stickers to remind users to switch off electrical appliances after use were also given out. About 3,000 stickers will be distributed to schools within the South-West CDC district to promote an energy saving lifestyle, while the remaining stickers will be pasted at NUS.

NUS will also take a pro-active approach to reduce the use of electricity, by increasing the temperature of air-conditioners on campus to 25 degrees celsius. - CNA/ms
